To support remote learning at Castleway, we will be using Google Classroom as well as a number of other online resources. Please read our Remote Education Provision for further information.
Some of our learning is provided by the Oak National Academy, as well as Purple Mash, and others which you will be directed to both in your home learning packs, and on your Google Classroom.
You can find further information on all our remote learning through the links on our Covid-19 Remote Learning section on the school website.
Timetables for each class can be found under Year Group Support.
Oak National Academy is an enterprise that has been created by teachers from schools across England, backed by government grant funding. It will provide 180 video lessons each week, across a broad range of subjects from maths to art, for every year group from Reception through to Year 10.
The Education Secretary has said that he hopes this support will take some of the pressure off both parents and schools by providing more materials for them to use.
Oak National Academy joins a broad range of support and resources available for schools and parents. This includes a list of resources published by the Government, which can be found on the 'Helpful Resource' page, as well as the existing tools and resources we use to provide remote education. Links can be found to many of these resources on the 'Websites for online learning' tab
The BBC has launched its own education package across TV and online with BBC Bitesize, featuring celebrities and teachers – helping to keep children learning and supporting parents. This can be accessed through BBC iPlayer on any device and on TV via the red button. BBC Bitesize supports the White Rose Maths followed at Castleway.
Links to both Oak National Academy and BBC Bitesize can be found on our ‘Online Resources for Home Learning' page.
We would like to stress that we know many of you are trying to balance working from home with your childcare needs, and know how difficult this is. Please approach learning in a way that is manageable for you all and that enables you to manage everything else you also need to do at the moment.
Our home learning pages are to try and support you by providing resources and ideas to keep your learners engaged in learning and busy but developing a routine that works and is manageable for you is very important.
We care about your health and wellbeing too and this is the most important thing at the moment. Please remember that you are all doing an amazing job in really challenging circumstances, and we are here to support you with wellbeing and learning where we can.
